The current generation of Gen-Y users have a tool of communication at their disposal that no other generation has had, the Internet. Within the Internet, socializing online has become an even easier way to connect with friends, family, and others across the clove. Online social networking sites provide Gen-Y users with a convenient and inexpensive way to reach individuals on many different levels
Needs
Businesses are currently using Social Networking sites in many different ways; advertising, contacting current/potential clients, and most importantly screening potential employees. The fact that businesses are using this tool against offering Gen-Y users a job is taking Social Networking sites to a whole new level. Many Gen-Y users disclose way to much information over social networking sites, and this undoubtedly puts a damper on their future job opportunities.

This article talks about Canadas way of using social media background checks. It seems as if more and more employers are using Facebook and other social networking sites to conduct background checks during the process of hiring. The idea of looking at potential employees over Facebook has sky rocketed in the past year, and this article says it will only get worse.

This article shows the Pros of Facebook, and other social networking sites. It is said in this article that more and more people prefer to communicate via social networking sites, and it actually does build relationships with people, which then turns into business. At an agency in Liverpool, they said they had an 'open door' policy when it came to social networking sites, because many people rely so heavily on communicating on these sites.

This article focuses on the fact that Gen-Y users are more technologically advanced than any generation yet. Since Gen-Y users are so advance with technology, social networking sites is where they disclose the majority of their information. With this being said, it is proven that a simple resume will not tell the employer about the interviewee entirely. The tool that tells the most is social networking sites, and this could be beneficial to the employers, but detrimental to the perspective young people.
